DtDE will complete a two-week theatre residence at the prestigious Banff Centre for the Fine Arts this November to complete and stage Omar Daniels’ Penelope and Odysseus with the PSQ and live electronics.

 

Penelope and Odysseus, a tale of separation and reunion, is a collaborative piece for string quartet, live electronics and dance. the Banff Centre commissioned the music and the choreography was workshopped earlier this year as part of the Open Ears Festival in Kitchener, Ontario.

The final work, entitled The Odyssey, will see its World Premiere at the Eric Harvey Theatre in Banff, on Novemeber 28, 2009. The Program also includes the premiere of David's newest creation, Antico: Seven Antique Fragments, to a selection of Medieval European music; Serious Games (1998), which was originally commissioned by the Canadian Children's Dance Theatre ; and DtDE's signature piece, Miserere, set to music by Grigorio Allegri.

The program will be brought home in April of 2010, with performance at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts and the Guelph River Run Centre .
