"It is DtDE's belief that dance offers a unique experience, engaging the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Dance begins where words end. It is the global language. It is essential in these times to pass on to as many people as possible the solace and empowerment that this, the oldest art form, can confer.

In the age of self, of the computer, I believe that the living arts will experience a renaissance to provide a much needed balance to people’s lives. Dance can be the most healing art for those who perform and those who watch. Dancers are not only the athletes of the gods but also their messengers.

There has been a tragic tradition in dance of cruelty, of emotional and physical abuse. We are doing everything in our power to reverse this situation, to bring affirmative values to young dancers that will encourage wholeness and health as well as poetry and personal power in every individual."

In week 1, classes will have a focus on form - an emphasis on the technical structure, specific vocabulary and choreographic elements unique to David Earle’s dance idiom.  The greater part of the day will be spent in technique and coaching classes, with one repertoire class each afternoon.

All technique classes are accompanied by live percussion.

The first week is the dancers' opportunity to prepare for the advanced session.  Dancers will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the specific elements of David's work, a Graham-based movement vocabulary that incorporates Graham, Limon and classical Ballet with the innovations of a 40-year choreographic career.

Week 1 will allow dancers the opportunity to investigate the technique on a deeper and more detailed level, in preparation for the repertorie sessions in weeks 2 & 3.

The limited size of the workshop allows for personal coaching tailored to participants’ individual needs.

During weeks two and three, focus will shift towards function and innovation - the application of the elements studied during the first week will be applied to the learning, rehearsal and performance of company repertoire, as well as the creative exploration of the dramatic and communicative possibilities arrived at through the use of choreographic insights and mechanisms.
